Nike does not say Dunks run big or small. Its Dunk Low Retro and Dunk High Retro product pages carry no Size and Fit note, only a link to the size chart. Order the size Nike’s chart gives for your measured foot, and size up if your measurement falls between two sizes, as the chart advises.
If you already own Air Force 1s, that is where a sizing mistake can start. Nike tells shoppers to buy the AF1 ’07 half a size down. It gives no such advice for the Dunk.
What does Nike say about Dunk fit?
Nike’s own product copy on the Dunk pages makes no fit claim. There is no “Fits large,” “Fits small” or “true to size” line in Nike’s description.
| Dunk listing | Nike’s fit note | Size chart linked |
|---|---|---|
| Dunk Low Retro (men’s) | None | Nike men’s footwear chart |
| Dunk Low Suede (women’s) | None | Nike women’s footwear chart |
| Dunk High Retro (men’s) | None | Unisex chart in men’s sizes |
Some Dunk pages show a review summary built from shopper comments. Those summaries do not agree from one page to the next, and they are not Nike’s advice. Use the chart to choose your size.
How do you choose your Dunk size?
Nike’s men’s size chart sets out how to measure:
- Tape a sheet of paper to a hard floor and stand on it.
- Mark the tip of the big toe and the outermost point of the heel.
- Measure between the marks.
- Do the same for the other foot. Nike notes it is common for one foot to be slightly longer.
- Use the longer length on the chart. Between sizes, size up.
That number is your Dunk size. Our foot measuring guide adds how to measure width, which helps if your foot is broad.
Safety
Do not carry over an Air Force 1 size by habit. If you followed Nike’s half-size-down note for the AF1 ’07, your Dunk size from the chart is likely half a size above your AF1 size.
Dunk Low vs Dunk High
Nike gives no separate fit rule for the low and the high. Both pages send you to a size chart and nothing more.
The high top has a padded collar that wraps the ankle. That changes how the shoe feels when laced, but Nike does not tell you to size differently for it. Pick the same chart size for both.

Men’s and women’s Dunk sizes
Dunks are listed under men’s and women’s pages, and each links its own chart. If you buy across the line, Nike’s unisex chart is the bridge. It puts men’s 8 on the same row as women’s 9.5 and men’s 9 beside women’s 10.5.
So a woman who wears a women’s 10.5 in Nike would order a men’s 9 Dunk. Read your own row on the chart to be sure. Our men’s to women’s shoe size guide covers the conversion in more detail.
What if Dunks feel tight across the toes?
Nike’s Dunk pages talk about size, not width. If your measured size feels snug across the widest part of the foot, sizing up adds length to gain room, which can leave a gap at the toe.
A better route for a broad foot is a shoe sold in a true wide width. Our shoes for wide feet guide lists brands that make them, and the wide toe box shoes page explains what extra toe room looks like.

Frequently asked questions
Should I size down in Nike Dunks?
Nike does not tell you to. Its Dunk Low and Dunk High product pages carry no size-down note, unlike the Air Force 1 '07. Order the size Nike's chart gives for your measured foot.
Are Dunks the same size as Air Force 1s?
Not by Nike's advice. Nike says the Air Force 1 '07 fits large and to order a half size down, while the Dunk pages carry no fit note. If you take a half size down in AF1s, your usual chart size is the starting point for Dunks.
Do Dunk Low and Dunk High fit the same?
Nike gives no separate size rule for either. Both pages leave sizing to the size chart. The high top wraps the ankle and the low does not, which changes how the shoe feels, not the size Nike points you to.
