Nike does not publish a fit note for the Air Jordan 1. Its High OG, Mid and Low product pages give no advice to size up or down, only a link to the size chart. So order the size Nike’s chart gives for your measured foot, and size up if you fall between two sizes.

That sets the Jordan 1 apart from the Air Force 1 ’07, where Nike’s page says “Fits large; we recommend ordering a half size down.” A half size taken off a Jordan 1 is your own choice, not Nike’s advice.

What do Nike’s Jordan 1 pages say about fit?

Nike puts fit advice in the Size and Fit section of a product page, as it does for the Air Force 1. On the Jordan 1 pages, Nike’s own product copy says nothing about fit:

Model Listing Nike’s fit note Size chart linked
Air Jordan 1 Low Men’s None Unisex chart in men’s sizes
Air Jordan 1 Mid Women’s None Unisex chart in women’s sizes
Air Jordan 1 High OG Men’s (“Royal”) None Nike size charts

Some Jordan 1 pages also show a review summary. That is shopper feedback, not Nike’s fit advice, and it is not the same thing as a Size and Fit note.

How do you pick your Jordan 1 size?

Use length first. Nike’s size chart gives the steps:

  1. Stand on a sheet of paper taped to a hard floor.
  2. Mark the tip of the big toe and the back of the heel.
  3. Measure between the marks, then repeat with the other foot.
  4. Take the longer measurement to the chart.
  5. If it falls between two sizes, Nike says to size up.

Order that size in the Jordan 1. Our foot measuring guide shows how to measure width too, which matters if your foot is broad across the toes.

Tip

If you already own a Nike pair that fits well and has no fit note, such as a Dunk, that size is a sensible starting point for a Jordan 1. A well-fitting Air Force 1 is not, because Nike tells you to buy it half a size down.

High, Mid and Low: is there a sizing difference?

Nike gives no separate size rule for the three heights. The High OG and Mid lace up over the ankle and the Low sits below it, but every page sends you to the same kind of size chart.

What changes is the size chart attached to each listing. Men’s pages link Nike’s unisex chart in men’s sizes. The women’s Mid links the unisex chart in women’s sizes. Both describe the same shoe sizes, just read from a different column.

Buying a men’s Jordan 1 as a woman

Men’s Jordan 1 pages size the shoe on Nike’s unisex chart, read in men’s sizes. That chart puts men’s 8 on the same row as women’s 9.5, and men’s 9 beside women’s 10.5, a gap of one and a half sizes.

So a woman who wears a women’s 9.5 in Nike would start at men’s 8. Check your own row on the chart rather than relying on the rule of thumb. Our men’s to women’s shoe size page explains the conversion in more detail.

Buying a Jordan 1 secondhand

A resale pair is often the only way to find an older Jordan 1 color, and the size is fixed once you buy. Measure first, find your size on Nike’s chart, and ask the seller for a photo of the size tag inside the shoe. Our guide on how to spot fake sneakers covers what else to check before you pay.

The Jordan 1 sits beside two other Nike classics. For a canvas skate shoe sold in unisex sizes, see Vans sizing. The Air Force 1 is the one Nike says fits large, and the Dunk carries no fit note, like the Jordan 1. For every model side by side, see do sneakers run big or small.

Frequently asked questions

Do Jordan 1s run big or small?

Nike does not say either way. Its Air Jordan 1 High OG, Mid and Low product pages give no size-up or size-down advice, only a link to the size chart. Order the size Nike's chart gives for your measured foot.

Should I size down in Jordan 1s like Air Force 1s?

Nike only gives the half-size-down advice for the Air Force 1 '07. The Jordan 1 pages carry no such note, so taking the same half size off is not something Nike recommends for them.

Do Jordan 1 High, Mid and Low fit differently?

Nike gives no separate fit rule for the High, Mid or Low. All three pages leave sizing to the chart. The difference you will notice is the collar height around the ankle, not a printed size rule.
